News Update: UK gets tough on disruptive drunken passengers

The United Kingdom has warned air travellers of more severe punitive action if their inebriate behaviour causes a flight disruption. This is the message of the “One Too Many” campaign mounted at nine British airports.

Drunk passengers can be denied boarding, and disruptive behaviour on board a plane can result in hefty fines, imprisonment and the culprit being banned from future flights. The authorities are going by the Montreal Protocol 2014’s recommendation that affected airlines should be compensated for the disruption, so the fines could take that into consideration.

Time that other airport authorities follow the British lead too.
